ఔషధ గుణం     :   It is used to fix loose teeth and as a gargle. It is also used for tooth ache, chronic dycentry and constipation.

This tree with fragrant flowers is regarded as symbol of love and beauty. Krishna is said to have fascinated gopikas on the banks of Yamuna by playing flute under this Bakula tree. In Abhignyana Shaakunatalam, Kalidasa has written that these flowers even when dried in the sun, donot lose their fragrance.
