ఔషధ గుణం     : It is a climber and found wild in the plains .The fruits are used as a vegetable is particularly useful for convalescents, as they are laxative and easily digestible.  The bulbous root is called Ramyaha in Sanskrit and is classified amongst purgatives by Susruta. In bilious fever, a decoction of patola leaves and coriander, in equal parts, is given as a febrifuge and laxative.
